Mission 
Our Mission Statement - The objective of the Frederick Volleyball Club is to provide an opportunity for area youth to learn teamwork, skill development, knowledge of volleyball and character development; including responsibility, sportsmanship, determination, persistence, dedication, competitiveness and friendship, all to be achieved by providing supervised instruction and competitive tournament play.

Past FVBC Director Dies After Long Fight With ALS - Mr. Terry Palm, one of the founders and past Director of FVBC, died on Monday October 19, 2004 at his home. Terry was more than just a founder of FVBC - he was a good man with a big heart and he will be sorely missed.

Does Not Include Hotel Fees * Players must register and pay membership fee with USAV (www.chrva.org) PRIOR to tryouts.
Fees: The fees cover tournament entry fees, uniforms, gym rental, coaches’ fees and administrative fees. Player fees are due by the 15th of each month as indicated in the fee schedule above. Deposits are due at the parents meeting to be held in early December. Each team will discuss fundraising opportunities to assist players with the club fees.
Refund Policy: Payment of player fees are not refundable except in the case of an injury that occurs at a USAV sanctioned practice or tournament. The amount to be refunded is prorated based on the decision of the Club Director. Parents must request a refund in writing and attach a statement from their physician. Fundraising money is not refundable.

TRYOUTS and CALL BACKS
STEP 1
REMINDER: All participants must complete the USAV Membership Registration PRIOR to tryouts.
Players can register at www.chrva.org beginning October 1.
STEP 2
After you have registered on the CHRVA site, you need to register for the FVBC Tryouts. Fee is $25. If a player does not make a team, this fee will be refunded.

Are you are a 15 or 16U and interested in playing on the Saturday Only Tournament team? This team will have no multi-day tournaments and no Sunday tournaments.
Check the designated box on the Online Registration Form if you plan to tryout for the 16U team that will only play in Saturday tournaments.
FVBC can not guarantee that you will be placed on this team.

Age Definitions AGE DEFINITIONS 2011/12 SEASON
There is often some confusion over how to calculate a player's age group eligibility. The information below should help to alleviate some of that confusion. Keep in mind that a player may "play up" into a different age group, but never play down into a lower age bracket.
18 and Under Division:
Players who were born on or after September 1, 1993 or players who were born on or after September 1, 1992 and a high school student during some part of the current academic year
17 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1994
16 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1995
15 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1996
14 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1997
13 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1998
12 and Under Division: Players who were born on or after September 1, 1999

Q: How long is the season?
A: For most teams the season runs from December until the following May.

Q: How often do the teams practice?
A: Most teams practice for 2 hours twice a week, usually in the evenings during the week, or on Sunday in the afternoon.

Q: Where are the practices held?
A: All practices are held in Frederick County, within 20 minutes of the city. We currently use the following sites:

Q: When are the practices held?
A: Days and times for practices are different for each team. Once the teams have been decided, the practice times and locations for each will be posted on the website.
Q: What is the fee for each player?
A: The fee for each player is $695. This fee can change based upon the age group and number of tournaments.

Q: Where are the tournaments located?
A: Most tournaments are held in the local area: Frederick, Columbia, Baltimore, Germantown, DC, Northern Virginia. Multiple day/away tournaments typically are held in Virginia and Pennsylvania. As the season progresses, the tournaments will be listed on the team page on this website.

Weather Policy 
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
Because FVBC practices are not held at a Frederick County Public School (FCPS) we do not always follow FCPS closing.
Sometimes FCPS closes for the day but the weather is fine by evening. In these cases, we will make a determination about practice by 2:00 pm.
