2020-2021 Season Club Tryouts

Tryouts FAQs

WHAT IF THERE IS A CONFLICT WITH MULTIPLE CLUB TRYOUTS?

Most clubs will be sending offers through emails after tryouts. Our coaches, however, will make the majority of our offers during tryouts. For this reason, we highly recommend you come to FVBC tryouts if you have serious interest in our teams or view FVBC as your preferred club.

CAN I TRYOUT FOR A DIFFERENT OR MULTIPLE AGE GROUPS?

We recommend players trying out for their current age group (please see CHRVA Age Guidelines).  However, if you want to tryout for more than one team, please inform us at check-in so we are aware.  Please note:  you also must tryout for your appropriate age group. You will only receive one offer letter.

SHOULD I ARRIVE EARLY?

All players will need to be at the facility 30 minutes before the actual tryout time to go through the registration process/temperature checks/paperwork and waivers.

Parents will not be allowed to enter the facility so please make sure ALL your paperwork is in order and signed. You will not be allowed to tryout if the required paperwork is not in order (which includes an updated CHRVA registration)

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO TRYOUTS (besides paperwork)?

You should bring the following AND ONLY THE FOLLOWING to tryouts:

  1.  Water bottle with your name on it (tape with your name is perfect);
  2.   Personal Hand Sanitizer;
  3.   Knee Pads;
  4.   Comfortable Clothes;
  5.   Mask; and
  6.   A great attitude!!

NO bags (including volleyball bags) will be allowed inside the facility.

WILL I KNOW RIGHT AFTER THE TRYOUT PERIOD WHETHER I HAVE BEEN SELECTED FOR A TEAM?  **NEW Rule from CHRVA**

During the Tryout session players will receive either an Offer Letter or a Waitlist Notice.

•            If you receive an Offer Letter/Commitment Form, you have 72 hours to make your decision. If you do not respond within the 72 hour window, we will assume that you are declining the offer and will then offer your position to the next player on the waitlist.

•            If you are given an Offer and you decide to decline it, please advise us ASAP so your spot can be offered to another player who is interested.

•            If you receive a Waitlist notice, you will be contacted in a few days with either an offer to join a team or to let you know that the team rosters are full.  Coaches will stay in touch with players until all positions have been filled.

•            If you received a waitlist, it does not mean you are guaranteed a spot or that a spot will not open up.  Please be patient as coaches assemble their teams.  Also, if you choose to join another club, please let the us know so we can take you off the list (and avoid an awkward conversation).

WILL THERE BE ANY SUPPLEMENTAL TRYOUTS?

Although it is possible we will need to hold supplemental tryouts, we do not have any scheduled at this time.  Supplemental tryouts might be held at the discretion of the coaches and depend on how well they fill their rosters. Please check our website and social media after your tryout date to see if we schedule additional times.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I ACCEPT THE OFFER?

Once you accept our offer to play for FVBC, you may not pursue an offer from a different club or team. Your coach will contact you about conditioning/strength training, the club/team meeting in November to sign your official contract, meet with your teammates, order uniforms. etc.   Declining an offer AFTER accepting may subject you to disqualification of playing for a team governed by USAV.

FINALLY:  PER CHRVA RULES, ALL PLAYERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK AT ALL TIMES (and, yes, this includes when you are playing on the Court)!
